Platinum Equity has closed its acquisition of Husky Injection Molding Systems from Berkshire Partners and OMERS Private Equity for $3.85 billion, a move that was first announced in December. Based in Bolton, Ontario, Husky supplies injection molding equipment for a range of markets within the plastics industry. Berkshire and OMERS bought the business from Onex for a reported $2.1 billion in 2011.
Platinum has been on a dealmaking spree so far in 2018, with 10 completed transactions, per the PitchBook Platform. Only once since 2012 has the firm completed more than 13 investments in a single year: Last year, when Platinum sealed a decade-high 20 deals.
